My Techniques

I have a passion for antique and vintage quilts, I love mixed techniques the portability of paper piecing, hand piecing and applique. In the last ten years I have returned to more hand piecing and hand applique work. I have tried many techniques over the years; I love the accuracy of foundation piecing. I prefer using the freezer paper foundation method. This saves the fiddly bit of tearing out the paper, then picking out the leftover pieces with tweezers. The foundation is just peeled off when the stitching is complete. This method is extremely accurate and can be applied whenever traditional paper piecing is used.

Experience

I started my quilting career thirty years ago. Within a few years I had graduated to teaching and working in many quilt shops across Melbourne, including my own. In 2000 I moved to Sydney with my husband. During this time I worked and played with a number of inspirational patchworkers. This was an exhilarating experience and with their encouragement I was motivated to enter the Victorian Quilters Showcase when I returned to Melbourne in 2004.
I was fortunate enough to receive the President’s Choice, the Gloria Flood Award, with my very first entry.

Workshops

workshop5

I have conducted many workshops and I never tire of offering support and assistance long after the workshop has finished. I have taught in Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia. In 2014 I was one of the tutors for the Australasian Quilt Convention in Melbourne.

workshop4

I am on the committee for the AQA symposium in 2015. In my spare time I am also working on a Raffle quilt for P&Q’s in 2015.

Workshop3

In February 2013 I completed a workshop with the ‘Australian Quilt Judging Network’ to be eligible to become an accredited judge; I am also in training with the Victorian Quilters to become a member of the Quilt Valuation team.

Workshop2

In July 2013 I was the Profile Quilter in the ‘Stitched Up’ Textile Festival in Wangaratta Victoria with 10 of my quilts on display. This was the first time a large number of my quilts have been on display at the one time.

July 2013 it was an honour to be asked to be a judge at the Victorian Showcase Quilt Show in Melbourne.
